My Teachers

Pat and Linda Parelli

One of the things I love about Pat is the way he rewards the try—even in people. He loves to share with those who love to learn and who put in the effort to do so. I have learned so much from him over the years and his program has blessed my life in so many ways.

Without Linda’s talents PNH would not be what it is today. I’m grateful to her for working so hard to help us all understand Pat’s message. I appreciate the times when she has helped me personally to see things in myself, my teaching, and my horsemanship that needed improvement.

Ronnie Willis

Thank you Pat for sharing your teacher with us!

"If you ever get in trouble, you either asked the wrong question or you asked the question wrong."

(or he may even put it more personal like, "Well, then, you deserved to get bucked off.")

Doreen and Van with their horse Peppy

Van C. Gardner

I learned many great lessons from my father. Some of those lessons are the importance of honesty and integrity, looking to change yourself before blaming others (horse or human), and enjoying the simple things in life.

Cutters Chex

Chex was my first PNH partner. She is very athletic and talented, but she had a rough start and was scared to death of the human world. For years she would say to me, “Help me feel safe, and I’ll do anything for you.” My savvy and her confidence and abilities really started to increase when I finally learned to have confidence in myself, when I could treat her in public the way I would at home and not worry so much about what other people we thinking of me.

George

One of my best teachers

George taught me to listen or land on my head! We went through two difficult horse courses and hundreds of hours together. My savvy level really started to increase as these words from Ronnie Willis sunk deep, "You play with your horse where he is at today, not where you or anyone else thinks he should be." I realized that I had let my pride and others’ criticism get in the way of our progress. I was thinking, "You stupid horse. I’m a Parelli instructor and you’re making me look stupid. I’m going to make you level 1!!!" What a difference for both of us when I started playing with him and seeing his progress and potential instead of looking at where we were not!
